CHUCK'S MODEL ENGINE PAGE

Welcome to my web page.  The intent is to tell you about my hobby, building model engines. I hope you enjoy the photos.  There will be more  information about building the engines in future updates, so please consider my site under construction.  Your comments and questions are welcome Thanks for stopping by.

This steam powered horizontal mill engine was my first model engine.  The engine was designed by the late Elmer Verburg (sp?).  Construction is from barstock except for the flywheel casting from Stuart.  I enjoy stationary steam engines, but I am currently building spark ignited internal combustion (IC) engines.

My first IC engine is this 0.3 scale John Deere 1.5 BHP Model E.  The castings and instructions were developed  by Jerry Frisbie of  Dinky Dears near Winston OR.  Jerry's castings, drawings, and instructions are first rate.  I learned a lot and even cut my first gears  from the instructions in this kit.

My second engine was this 1/5 scale model of a 5 horsepower Chanticleer.  The castings and drawings were developed by the late Jim May, of Sandwich, IL.

This is an "in-progress photo" of my third engine, a 1/4 scale model of a 5 horsepower Galloway.  Richard Shelley sells castings and drawings for this engine.  .
